A very early Louis Vuitton Damier courrier trunk from the original address in London on The Strand . Over 100 years old .

This is a tall trunk with three wooden bands and would make a wonderful side table or coffee  table statement piece, for a sitting room, hallway, bedroom, study or yacht

 

A replacement key was commissioned from LV for the trunk and is supported with ancillary paperwork from Louis Vuitton

However, the lock has collapsed and can’t be locked, but it closes perfectly and the key with its tassel sits in the lock beautifully

A lovely antique piece bearing traces of original owners initials to both sides( V.A.)

There is ageing to the canvas at the sides but it is generally bright to the front and top

This original Damier canvas was created in 1888 by George Vuitton and being an early example is marked within the checkerboard pattern ( marque L. Vuitton déposée)

This was a strike against counterfeits, the Damier pattern being older than the LV monogram pattern.
